Connecting  (Aim for 15 minutes)           

 

Breaking the Ice/Think Time

 

1.     When did you first here about the ten commandments and what was your mindset toward them?

Quick Review… Looking back at your notes from this Sunday’s sermon, what caught your attention, challenged, or confused you?

Understanding the Truth (Aim for 30-40 minutes)

Read Exodus 20:1-6

1. In vv. 1-2, God seems to remind the Israelites about who he was and what he had done. Why would this have been important in the giving of the law?

2. Did salvation come before the giving of the law for the Israelites? How does this pattern relate to us believers?

3. Pastor Eddie mentioned in his sermon, that “you shall not have other gods before me” was an issue of reliance. In your life, in whom or what do you find yourself relying on? Why?

4. The second commandment is an issue of value and significance. Where do you find that most of your time, energy, and money go

Seeing Our Savior 

 

Living the Truth (Aim for 20 minutes)

1.     Discuss with your group some ways that you can begin to rely on God in your life. 

 

2.     What are some scriptures that talk about our value and significance in God? Share some with your group. Now, read Eph. 1:1-14 and write down what it says about who your are in God and discuss in your group.  

 God not only hears but loves to answer prayers that are “according to His will.” (1 John 5:14-15).  We can pray confidently when we pray obediently to this truth. You have just spent time discovering God’s will for you. Now, ask God for what you need to fulfill His will in your life, your friends & family, neighbors, church & community. Don’t be afraid to ask forgiveness where you have blown it, strength where you are weak, courage where you are afraid.

Prayer Requests   (Aim for minimum of 10 minutes)

Pray that God reveals to you who He truly is
