United to God and Each Other - Week 9

SMALL GROUP DISCUSSION GUIDE

For the week of November 1st

Breaking the Ice/Think Time

1. What are some things in your life that you are not sure of?

Quick Review… Looking back at your notes from this Sunday’s sermon, what caught your attention, challenged, or confused you?

Understanding the Truth (Aim for 30 minutes)

Read Hebrews 10:1-10

1. In what way is the law a shadow of the good things to come? What can the law not do? (v.1)

2. What does verse 3 say is a reason for continual sacrifices? What could the blood of bulls and goats never do? (v.4)

Read Hebrews 10:11-18

3. What is the significance that Christ sat down at the right hand of God after His sacrifice? (vs.11-12)

4. Christ’s sacrifice not only was complete once and for all, it also perfected those that are being sanctified (v.14). How does this apply to believers now and to future believers?

5. Explain what the author means when he says that no other offering is needed for sin (v.18). Does this mean we can go one sinning?

Read Hebrews 10:19-31

6. What does it mean that we can enter into the holy place? Why can we enter it? How should we enter it? (vs.19 -21)

7. What are the three ‘let us’ statements and how should we apply them (Hebrews 10:22-25)?

8. What is the danger in NOT meeting with other believers? i.e. neglecting Sunday worship.

9. Verses 26-31 are warning to those who reject the sacrifice of Christ. Why does this passage state that rejection of Christ will receive a much worse punishment than violating the Old Testament laws (Hebrews 10:29)?

Living the Truth (Aim for 20 minutes)

1. Do you feel guilty for your sins? How does God want you to feel?

2. What things can you do to prepare others for Christ’s return? Are there ways you want to improve in this area?

Prayer Requests   (Aim for minimum of 10 minutes)
