The Big 10 - Week 5: All Lives Matter

Small Group Discussion Guide

For the week of May 24th, 2020

Connecting (Aim for 15 minutes)

Breaking the Ice: Think Time

What’s your most valuable possession and what gives it value?

Quick Review… Looking back on your notes from Sunday’s sermon, what caught your attention, challenged, or confused you?

Understanding the Truth (Aim for 30 minutes)

1. How do we know that God values all lives? In what ways does our culture struggle to view all lives as being priceless?

2. What does it mean to be made in the image of God?

3. What does murder/insults/gossip reveal in our hearts?

4. Read Matthew 5:23. Why does God go as far to say, “Don’t even worship me until you’ve been reconciled with your brother”? Who has Jesus reconciled us to? How was this done?

Living the Truth (Aim for 20 minutes)

1. Where do you need to be intentional this week so you don’t “murder”? Consider where you’ve struggled with setting boundaries in your speech, actions, or thoughts in the past week or month. How can you build others up instead?

2. Who do you need to reconcile with? Are there people that you have to choose to continually forgive on a daily basis? How can you go about doing that?

3. Read 2 Corinthians 5:17 and 1 John 1:9. Where have you felt the most gratitude for God’s grace in your life? Reflect on those thoughts as you go about forgiving this week.
