Connecting  (Aim for 15 minutes) 

 

Breaking the Ice/Think Time

 

What are some things that make you angry?

Quick Review… Looking back at your notes from this Sunday’s sermon, what caught your attention, challenged, or confused you?

Understanding the Truth (Aim for 30 minutes)

Read Ephesians 4:26-27

1. What does Paul mean when he says “be angry and do not sin?” When or why  would it be ok to be angry?  

 

2. In what ways does our society tend to misuse anger? What are some affects from destructive anger? 

 

3. Discuss the concept of anger as a secondary emotion. Which of the root issues   mentioned (Frustration - Insecurity) do you tend to struggle with the most? Why?

Read James 1:19-20 

 

4. Share with the group some practical things you can do to follow James’ 3 step      approach to deal with anger? (Quick to hear, slow top speak, and slow to anger)

 

5. It’s unhealthy to mask our anger. What safeguards can help you express your anger appropriately?

 

Living the Truth (Aim for 20 minutes)

 

1.  How could you see handling your anger biblically as a means to help you grow in Christ and relationships with others? Be specific. 

2. Read 2 Cor. 5:21. How did God deal with His anger against sin? How does it make you feel that Jesus took God’s wrath on your behalf?
