Quick Review… Looking back at your notes from this Sunday’s sermon, what caught your attention, challenged, or confused you?

Understanding the Truth (Aim for 30 minutes)

1.    Where do Ephesians 6:12 and 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 tell us our real battle is? Is the stronghold Paul refers to only physical?

2.    According to 2 Peter 2:19, what is the result of things that overcome us? In your experience, what are the effects of being enslaved to something?

3.    Read and discuss 1 Corinthians 10:13. What can we learn from this verse about battling temptations, bad habits and addictions? What does God promise us in this scripture?

4.    Satan’s desire is to steal, kill and destroy. His desire is that we would destroy our self while God’s desire is to give us abundant life. (Jn 10:10, Gen 3:4-5). Which of the following weapons of self-destruction is currently causing you to stumble with bad habits or addictions? (Shame, compulsions, fear, hopelessness, bitterness, insecurity, uncontrolled thoughts.)

5.    Read, summarize and discuss Galatians 5:16, 2 Timothy 1:7, Galatians 6:7-8, and Romans 8:1-4. What can we learn from these verses about the Holy Spirit and how victory is possible?

Living the Truth (Aim for 20 minutes)

1.    What bad habit or addiction do you need God’s help overcoming right now? How is this habit or addiction robbing God of glory and hurting yourself and others? What is the root cause of your struggle? (Weapons of Self-Destruction above or other.) Take time as a group to admit your struggles and pray for one another.
